Align the 7683 ALS

The align fault light on our 7683 is on. I have repeatedly followed the instructions in the manual and the entire alignment routine on the ALS occurs as described. Up to the very end where the alignment light fails to turn off.
As instructed by the manual I installed the ALS while the instrument was off.
Can anyone suggest what it is I'm missing???

7683 or 7683B
The B version have a alignement tool....you can find it a the bottom of the turret...follow the procedure from user manual
For 7683, you need to retrieve the syringe, push the align button.
At the end of the process, the light wil flash again , reinstall the syringe, close the door and normally, the light stop flashing.

I had the same problem. The tecnical service said the ALS had a "system crash" (like the computers), but a reset is not posible. This problem i a charasteristic of this model (7683).

Try to swap the plug to the front (or back) postion if it is already in the back (or front) of the GC. Just in case.

thx to all who replied, we found the problem to be a slightly less than perfect step motor and would only go up half a step rather than a full one when doing the syringe calibration part of the realingment. Suffice to say a little helping hand fooled the beast into working again..

I had the exact same problem, and the solution Peggsy found worked for me as well! I just poked the plunger-holding piece until it hit the tooth on the step where it wasn't making it all the way on its own, and finally got the green light. You have to be quick, but it works! Thanks for the solution!

Hello Peggsy, I see this is an older thread, but I am running into this problem on my autosampler. Can you tell me which part of the alignment sequence you had to tweak? There are steps a,b,c and d according to Agilent

G'day kyec,
Wow, this is a test of the memory.
Think what i would have done is, with syringe removed, at step b when the syringe carrier moves all the way down, is to make sure it moves all the way down with a gentle down push. Do so quickly, so you are not still pushing down as the carrier tries to go back up the turret.
You may also need to do this at the bottom of step c.
