LC column temperature control

Hi,

I have an older Waters chromatography system and I am thinking about repeating someone's method in which they report controlling their LC column temperature at 40 celcius. Anyone on here have any suggestions for relatively economically column T control systems that work well?

A temperature controlled water bath is cheap and has outstanding thermal transfer ! They are rather tricky for detecting column leaks though... Seriously, though this is something that most Universities have access to. We used them several times (many years ago) to maintain the temp of a few prep columns with great success.

Another economical choice is an electric blanket style or column block heater. Very inexpensive, so-so accuracy, but you get what you pay for. These can often be purchased inexpensively from lab supply companies and auction houses (Yes, ebay too).
