HPLC Visible analysis in the 700 to 900nm region

Dear All
I have seen the specs of several HPLCs UV vis detectors brands. Some go up to 700nm with deuterium lamp. Others go up to 900nm with an additional visible lamp.
What type of analysis would use the 700 to 900nm range ? I work in pharma and haven´t found applications in that range. In what other industries is it used?
