HPLC Visible analysis in the 700 to 900nm region

Dear All
I have seen the specs of several HPLCs UV vis detectors brands. Some go up to 700nm with deuterium lamp. Others go up to 900nm with an additional visible lamp.
:?: What type of analysis would use the 700 to 900nm range ? I work in pharma and haven´t found applications in that range. In what other industries is it used?
