Is there a Guideline of Chemstation?

Hi,guys;
Our Agilents 1100 and 1200 series use Chemstation as workstation.I found there has been many functions which may be helpful(e.g.inject program,or some special function in sequence tablet ), however,we did not know how to set up.I read some user manual and training book,but all of them is comprehensive and lack of something about program controlling instrument.So,is there a detailed Guideline of Chemstation?
Best regards!

You are not alone. Most users of ChemStation (and all chromatography software programs) have difficulty understanding the software. It has many capabililities, but is also very complex.

If you cannot get help from the manuals, then you will have to look for help from another source. There are many options, both on-line and on-site, but they are not free. If you have specific questions I might be able to make some suggestions.

Hi,mbicking;
I met a problem about injetion program. We are calibrating accuracy of injection by agilent 1100 autosampler. We repeat injection 10 times and inject 20ul everytime, then weigh the loss mass of vial and figure out total injetced volume(mass divided by density).So we edit a injection program in chemstaion as follow:
"Repeat 10 times
Draw 20ul from vial 1
Inject
Repeat end"
The problem is : total injected volume which has been figured out was 100ul.
To find out what happened, we changed the volum of every injection and repeating times( 100ul, and 5 times), and got same result(total volume figured out is 100ul).
So, what happened?

Wow: I would simply set to the injection volume I would be using and inject a number of times and calculate repeatability. I wouldn't care if actually was injecting 19.3 ul each time instead of 20.000 ul.

This problem occurs when you use the injector program feature. The metering device that draws the sample into the needle and tubing has a maximum draw volume of 100 uL (also the maximum volume that you can program). With the program that you wrote, the device did draw 20 uL from the vial during the first 5 cycles, but then it stopped because it was at its maximum draw setting. The draw syringe did not reset to its home position between each draw. So it did draw a total of 100 uL.

To do your experiment, try one of these options.

Program only one 20 uL draw and select "Start" a total of five times.

Use the following program:
Repeat 5 times
Draw 20 uL from Sample
Eject 20 uL into seat
End Repeat

This will reset the position of the draw syringe after each cycle.

Hope this helps. And share your results about accuracy.

mbicking;
We discussed the possibility before:the fulled loop in the injector.So in my program, here is a "inject" step in the repeat cycle.If it has been done indeed, the loop should be empty before next "draw" step in every cycle.And as i knew, agilents autosampler can inject milliliters with 100ul loop in this way.
