Hi all
I am in the process of setting up a PMS for our lab equipment, such as GCs, Distillation units, moisture analyzers etc...
I would appreciate if anyone could help me in that, if any experience could be shared in that manner.
I am planning to start by listing the equipment names, parts that need frequent maintenance, the frenqunecy ....
Anyway, i am looking forward to share you your experience
Best regards,
Alchemist

Are you in a regulated Lab environment (working under GxP)?
If not then a simple instructional document should suffice.
In a regulated environment where this plan will form part of a SOP I would recommend that the SOP refers the user to a (controlled) maintenance document. Including all information in the SOP will require SOP revisions every time a change is made. A controlled document can be amended much more easily than a SOP.

Sometimes it's easier to work backwards; identify why you're doing it and what benefit it will give you, then set in place how to get it done.
When considering "benefit" keep in mind the perspective of the chemist or technician who will be doing it. If what you design is extremely cumbersome (from their perspective) with little benefit (except not getting in trouble) then you'll find your system not being utilized or will require higher monitoring to ensure that folks are doing what they're supposed to. If the operators see it as personally beneficial (again except not getting in trouble) and easy to do, the more likely it will be utilized.

In terms of GC PM your application really matters. A lot of places running clean samples get away with yearly PMs and fairly lax times for replacing septa, liner, FID jets etc. Places with dirty samples could be replacing the liner a few times a week.
What is the frequency of use/application?
