Agilent RRLC or Waters UPLC?

I have no complaint about Jasco equipment. When I saw their X-LC at PittCon, it looked to be engineered to contemporary standards. Their representative was very candid with me, even though I wore my Dionex badge, he answered my questions and he let me examine the system. I was just disappointed by their marketing examples of what the instrument could do.

Waters was completely on its own to create the UPLC technology, design UPLC instruments and pack UPLC columns. The only predecessor was academic: Jim Jorgenson and his group. Everybody else is a follower...

Hmmm... We developed (and still do) UPLC's way before Waters (but after Jim Jorgenson). Furthermore, from day one, our system was a Nano which has it's additional complexities (when compared to the analytical one).

Our current configuration has the capability of 20,000 psi (thanks to the new ultra high pressure fittings from Upchurch (i.e. part # UH-196X)), has 4 columns, 4 electrospray emitters and designed for ultimate throughput when using very long columns (i.e. 75 cm long, 75 um ID, direct injection -no online SPE-).

Unless you are refering as UPLC the Trade Mark from Waters, which in this case I agree that only Waters makes (and still is the only one making) UPLC^TM
