The best advice I didn't follow was from my aunt who was a nurse and suggested that I become a pharmacist. I did get a chemistry BS and a biochemistry MS. It pained me later when I was teaching pharmacy students in lab who were starting out at higher wages than I may ever earn plus getting signing bonuses :( I do love my job in the lab however and know that I wouldn't have been happy behind a counter all day.

My curiosity regarding the chemistry career path continues.
What is the Best, Worst, and Weirdest career advice you have received?
Worst: my dad told me NOT to take this job.

That was in 1975 and I'm still here.

... become a pharmacist...
I think you picked the right job after all. Robots are taking all the pharmacy jobs. I heard the Chicago General Hospital Robot/ System does the work of 4 Wallgreens? Robots... seriously who knew?

If your boss is getting you down, look at him through the prongs of a fork and imagine him in jail.
HAHAHA

This made my day, as I was laid off recently.

Thanks!
