:D It's really interesting, but possibly practical, ideas

When I was in gradute school a while, I put two different sorbents into a SPE cartridge (not mxied up, one after the other) to clean up some tough samples, it worked very well.

Puting columns in tandem has been used for quite a while, but mostly the two columns are similar.
