Hi David,

Yes, a GC is still - the origin of "columns" and "plates" stems back to the petroleum industry and fractional distillation.

Remember, anything that you analyse by GC must be volatile.

Yes I know, I used to work in the Amoco Oil Lab.

I figure on LOWERING the technology on the GC somewhat, something without "packing" I will try. I remember when I retired that capillary columns were seeming to be "mentioned" more in the lab. I guess that is what everybody uses nowdays?

But first, something simple to see if I can make it work; like a mixture of alcohols.
