I see the point behind your logic but in our situation the LCs are old enough that the vendor would not throw in the data collection software and our budget won't allow us to purchase a software package. We do have one 2010 LC with Shimadzu's Easy Start software on it so that if it happens with one of the Shimadzu instruments again we may be able to try it through the software to see if we are getting the same noise. I will keep this in mind it is just hard to say when this will happen again since it comes and goes sometimes with a couple months in between.

if you feel that your nelson box is acting like an antenna to pick up rf interference then you can put the nelson box into an rf shield. this should rid you of broadcast interference.
