I did my research in 1988, and can't tell from my notebook whether an autosampler was used. We did use split injection though, not splitless, and it was with an integrator, not a computer. We rarely have a reproducibility issue here with split injection and autosamplers.

Our batching refers to QC apart from checking standardization. The method I am discussing is a drinking water test. We have to check calibration every 8 hours for the drinking water methods. Thus, these 16 hour batches have a total of 3 calibration checks, open, after 8 hours, and at the close.
