There is something I don´t understand there. MeOH is certainly more hydrophilic than EtOH, so should pick up water even more easily than EtOH. The only negative aspect seems to be that EtOH forms an azeotrope with water, so that once you obtain or surpass this H2O:EtOH ratio (near 5:95) one can not get rid of the water via a simple distillation.
Also, are there still some columns out there which are irreversibly damaged by water??
