KM-USA, can You explain me more detailed how do You mean to use PEEK fingertights instead?
I think he means that if there still are some threads in the end-fittin, but that the ferrule seating surface is a little damaged, that using a PEEK ferrule - which is considerably softer than stainless steel - can mold under pressure to make a seal. There are PEEK inlet filters and inlet filters with PEEK ferrules/connections if your HPLC fitting is stainless steel and you just want to add one of those before the column.

Another idea might be to reverse the column direction - there is far less pressure on the outlet side so maybe then wouldn't leak.
