As for the vendor being responsible for making it work with new OS versions, they will tell you that this software is now obsolete so they do not make fixes for such problems. But also the newer software is not compatible with the older instrument which have been "out of service life" for years. The problem then becomes you need to replace a perfectly working $50,000+ instrument simply because Microsoft changed its OS version.geometry dash online

This is exactly how I explain having Win98, WinNT4, and WinXP on my lab instruments. And VMWare 15 running Win10 on my Win7Pro64 office machine here at work for my quickbooks. I keep all the lab instruments and PC's on a separate subnet with no internet access. Dual NIC's in the office PC let me pull data up to the front for reporting.

Definitely, that one version installed in our analytical solution lab and seems to be working with recent firmware.

Just a tale:

Agilent once released B.04 series ChemStation and forgot for set in the build process the flag for EXE files, which allows it to run under 64-bit operating system.

Until the support department had not caught main developers somewhere on Bahamas (or something like this), the service engineers have to perform the following procedure:

Extract special Microsoft tool from SDK (system development kit) and run over Chemstation installation the following CMD file:

We are a teaching establishment so perhaps things can be a little slacker for us than for commercial labs but i am hesitant to upgrade software just because there is a new version out for a new version of Windows. Windows 10 and Windows 11 aren’t really that different. That is not me talking but Microsoft.

Software upgrades are too expensive to have to do every year or so

If you have new instruments then upgrading makes more sense as upgrades provide new features for the recent instruments predominantly but if you have older instruments, you may find the new software doesn’t work as well and new software doesn’t provide new features for older equipment.


I am not certain what products you are running but I am always willing to share by email our successes (and failures) running old software with newer OS’s
