SPME liners - baking out

Discussions about GC-MS, LC-MS, LC-FTIR, and other "coupled" analytical techniques.

Hi All,
2 weeks ago I took out SPME liner and this time left it in a glass bottle with the liner not in contact with plastic top.
And I have installed it again with a new septa and bingo...
Flat baseline - no DEP - with 1st run.
I will soak some of the plastic tube the liner came in and run the solvent when I start doing some liquid injections.
Thanks
WK

Hi All,
I have just re-inserted the liquid injection liner which had also been stored in a glass bottle with the original silanised wool and bingo too - a very good baseline straight away with a new septa!!!
Thanks
WK

WK,

I am glad that you finally found the solution for your contamination problem.
It really helps us to be more aware about the possible sources of contamination in our regular lab work

Thanks,
Zoran

Hi WK

Thaks for the feedback - useful to know.

Hi Peter / Zokitano,
I have a routine now.
I should store the liners back in the plastic sleeve to see if problems might re-appear but i don't have time to risk that yet!

Hi WK

Just another thought - you should probably communicate this to the manufacturers of the liners so that they can change their packaging.
