can I use Ethyl Aceta as mobile phase for C18 column?

It's not advisable to go ahead with ethyl acetate as it disturbs the stationary phasecan I use Ethyl Aceta as mobile phase for C18 column?

thanks. my extract is ethyl acetate soluble and it's solubility is very low in methanol. I read here (http://www.lcgceurope.com/lcgceurope/da ... rticle.pdf) that ethyl acetate can be used for washing but I couldn't find any where to read about suitable/unsuitable solvents for C18 and other columns. Do you know where I can find such information? Thanks

Yes, you can if you use silica based C18 (polymeric supports will likely swell and have high back pressure). The technique is called "non-aqueous reverse phase"can I use Ethyl Aceta as mobile phase for C18 column?
You can run non-aqueous reverse phase, referenced in referenced in Practical HPLC Method Development,Snyder, Kirkland, Glajch, 2nd edition, p.267.
I have run non-aqueous reverse phase on flash columns using acetone, dichloromethane, and ethyl acetate.

You can also try Ethanol and maybe some percentage water (5 - 10%). If your compound is soluble in Ethyl Acetate, it's quite possibly soluble in Ethanol as well. And Ethanol is significantly more comfortable to work with than Ethyl Acetate.
But remember testing the solubility empirically in a test tube first - away from the HPLC system
