GC

Hello,
I want to detect hydrogen and oxygen, after releasing from catalytic studies. Please let me know which of GC column is best.
3m 1mm ID SS column with molecular sieve 5A 80/100 mesh or molecular sieve 13X 80/100 mesh

or

4.5m 2.1mm ID SS column with Carboxen 1000 60/80 mesh

Faster and better separation of O2 from N2 with 5A or 13X sieve packing but routine conditioning to remove water and CO2 is required.

Carboxen 1000 is unaffected by water vapor and doesn't require conditioning as often or at all.

Capillary versions offer similar separations with 3 times the cost but several times less sample capacity.

Do yourself a favor and search the Forum for hydrogen and carrier gas requirements.

best wishes,

Rod
