Temperature programme doesn't separate on new GC

The CP-Sil 88 column is an unbonded phase capillary.

This means if you use it at high temperatures for a long period of time you can strip the phase off the column in places or you can produce bare spots on the column. This will decrease the resolution of the column. This is called 'puddling' and can sometimes be seen in the appearance of the phase when you shine a light through the column (not down its length, of course :lol: ).

This can also be caused by injecting solutions of methylene chloride or chloroform or some other chlorinated or non-hydrocarbon based solvent.

Exposure to air could also be a cause.

The column may not be entirely damaged. Cut 5 to 10 meters off as a last resort and see if that helps.

I'm having a similar problem when translating a Methanol method from an old Varian 3400 to a new 430-GC (1177 injector)
Did you resolved it in any way?
I have done the same work, reinstalling the column, trying different flow rates, changing the split ratio, etc...
In all the situations I obtained smaller and broader peaks than I did in the old 1070 injector.
Any help can be welcome
