What kind/size of in-line filters for eluent would you use for an HPLC system with MALLS and RI detectors?

We are using nano-pure DI degassed water filtered through a stainless steel inlet filter and with a guard column. We still experience noise with the SLS MALLS detector but not with the RI. Any ideas of why?
