Agilent Multi-mode inlet

Anybody here have experience with the Agilent Multi-Mode inlet? I'm particularly interested in maintenance issues.

It does not have a gold seal to replace so you have to clean the bottom of the inlet itself.

I may be injecting samples that are not all that clean into it, and I wonder if keeping it clean is an issue. I was told it needs to get swabbed out with MeOH periodically. Is this easy, is it problematic?

I am planning to use an FID, but there is an outside chance it may me an MS.

I have heard the same comment from two chromatographers that are much more experienced than I am saying the same thing. The other comment I heard was that it would not work very well for on-column (as in Sim-Dis) but is really meant more as a PTV type injector.

Also only have second hand information and seen whats availeble on the net. Just to prevent contamination of the bottom of the inlet it appears one have to chose liner perhaps more wisely than people are used to depending on injection type but also to get optimum performance.

When I looked around a bit I found that Agilent are developing a specific swab for bottom of the inlet, but it appears not to be ready yet.

I suppose you have seen the maintenance video?
