In todays local and national news. Pfizer are closing and leaving the UK Sandwich site within the next 2 years

Very,very sad - sorry for anyone who currently works there....
David Willetts seemed to have little impact in the matter.
He suggested that site should be used for small business units......???

Most likely.

At the same time (from personal experiance), it is usually better when companies does things like this when they still earn good money and can afford restructuring, relocation offers, decent exit plans etcetera.

Frankly it is not surpring, what Pfizer does many others already have done or are doing in similar ways (like reviewing/altering R&D teraphetic areas) and to get some really good benefits from recent merger/merges consolidations are unavoideble.

Does not mean I like it though
