IIRC the SEDEX 55 I used in the mid/late 90's had that design.Which model?
The newer ones have a downward facing nebuliser with the drain tube at the lowest point.
I've seen that as well as well and also saw that happen if the drain line got crimped.Chek that your solvent drain trap is not so full that liquid isnt draining properly.
