HP HPIB card problem.

I am trying to upgrade my computer that runs my HP 5972 mass spec and 5890 Gc. I built a computer with ISA board slots and everything but no matter what I do I can not get it to recognize it...its running windows xp and I dont want to pay for an upgrade. The chem station software I am running is A.03.00. Is this HPIB board just not compatible with xp or is there a way to get it to work?

Look at agilent web site, there's something in there about which can go with which, or at least what they've tested.

I'm not "great" at computers, but "OK" with Agilent. That said, is your HPIB board 82335, 82341, or 82350? The latter two need to be set up as "hp82341 " even if 82350 board is really used. And bus needs to be set at 30, whatever that means.

Are you sure that the GCMS software or MS electronics are compatible with Windows newer than Windows 95? That's still what we use with our 5972A.

I was reading that Win XP is not compatible with non-plug-and-play ISA cards. National Instruments has a plug-and-play GPIB ISA card for $549 that they say has "Software compatibility with all previous versions of AT-GPIB". Upgrading computers with the old software and hardware is always a big problem and there seems to always be a new gotcha that comes up.

I think you can't use Xp, with your Ver. A01.0 you can go with Win 2000.
