To use "base-deactivated" together with endcapping is marketing doublespeak. It means nothing.
Dear Mr. Neue,
BP2004 said: base-deactivated end-capped ... (You may see general monography for Tramadol HCl). Please give me explanation about this.

Best regards,
SYX

It is gobbledigook copied from the brochure of a column manufacturer who is marketing his product as "base deactivated".

I have previously said that for some base deactivated products it can be demonstrated that they are base deactivated using a special basic silane for endcapping. For other "base-deactivated" products, apparently including the ones that Steve was talking about, it is an arbitrary marketing label. I have jokingly referred to these products as the type, where a bottle of base is waved over the reactor during the reaction.

From a realistic standpoint, what will satisfy your need is a modern C18 based on a high-purity C18 that shows minimal silanol group activity. Which is something that can be measured...

I also should have said that well endcapped products based on a high-purity silica can nowadays be purchased from any reputable column supplier. No magic there ....

It seems, though, that some suppliers are blocked by arrogance, it will take more than magic to have them do their homework. I have seen some go down with flying colors on this side of the ocean.
