Hi there, I did inject a 100 ppm of methyl estrate with scan mode I got an area of 409003309 and with SIM mode I got 132228767. Can some one tell me if my GC MS has a good sensitivity. Faris

The sensitivity specifiction for GC/MS will be a signal to noise measurement of a few picograms on column, with a specific column, flow rate, temperature profile and acquisition rate. Also make a blank solvent inejction between injections of high concentration solutions of ethyl sterate and low concentration solution. Sterates tend to carry over between injections.
Eyeball estimate, you have a shot at a visible peak at 10 ppb and even 1 ppb. So as long as the noise is low, you may be in the ball park.
