I'm handling the basic conversion of a non-pharmaceutical lab from PC1000 to Atlas. I'm making a Power Point type presentation, new user manuals, and an Excel application to provide reporting (there is nothing in the current reports that meets the labs requirements.) I'm not a chromatographer but have spent enough time with this company to know what I'm doing with this project.

The lab uses Thermo Separation equipment (UV2000, and other equipment). I've sent up the UV2000 but the SN4000 won't connect to the PC (Windows XP). I have a utility that says the com port is okay (COM1) and the instrument is correctly configured. The owner actually got it to connect several weeks ago, by accident, so we're pretty sure the SN4000 is okay.

Any suggestions or comments?

1. Try to check/replace the cables.
2. There might be a problem with SN4000 main board or I/O ports

Found out that it was an issue with the SpectraSystems executable that remained running in the background even when Atlas was shut down. There seems to be a bug in this version that is causing the problem. The lab is not sure if they are going to continue trying to use Atlas R2.

Thanks,
