Class VP version 4.2 controlling Shimadzu SIL-10ADvp

We have a used system we are trying to hook up to a previous installation of Shimadzu Class VP software, version 4.2 which originally had an LC-10 system installed and are trying to configure a LC-10 vp series LC. The "new" LC consists of SCL-10Avp (controller), SIL-10ADvp (autosampler), and LC-10ATvp (pump). Originally the software would not recognize the controller and that was resolved by changing the baud rate, stop and parity bits in the controller's configuration. When the auto-configure button was used in system configuration in the software, it seemed like everything was set up properly, and had no other errors. When a method was set up and downloaded, the system seemed to respond, but when a batch was set up, the software started collecting data, the system controller said "RUN" but the autosampler never made an injection. When I checked the system configuration in the SCL-10Avp, the autosampler was knocked offline. I brought it back online and tried again with the same result. Any ideas?

HI, I have seen this recently with a system. The LC controller was connected to a 4-port RS232 board in the PC with a 10 meter RS232 cable. Connecting it to the RS232 port of the motherboard solved the problem. It can be the length of the cable and/or the port.
What is EXACT configuration of the entire system?

This system is connected to the computer using COM1 port on the motherboard. Not sure of the length of the cable, I am currently not on site. I am not entirely sure what you mean by exact configuration of the system, unless you meant the components installed, which were listed as system controller (SCL-10Avp), autosampler (SIL-10ADvp), pump (LC-10ATvp), and detector (SPD-10Avp). Upon checking the original post, I realize I left out the detector, sorry.
In speaking with a representative from Shimadzu it seems this version of the software cannot control the VP series of the LC. You can put the modules into something like an emulation mode where it will behave as the non-VP system, ie the SIL-10ADvp will act as a SIL-10A. This is going to be the next thing I try. Does anyone have experience with using the VP series in emulator mode?

Take a look here:

I would get the ROM of the SCL-10Avp upgraded if you're running anything earlier than 5.21. The latest ROM version is 5.43 or 6.22 depending on SCL-10Avp main board version. There's been a few fixes for Class-VP 4.2 communication in later ROM versions.
You might also have to put the pump, autosampler and detector into 10A emulation mode. Each module will then appear as a 10A module instead of a 10Avp module. Emulation mode is designed so you can run the newer VP modules with the SCL-10A (non VP) controller. From what I can figure out, the SIL-10ADvp appears as a SIL-10Axl in VP 4.
I don't have a lot of experience with VP 4 (it's very old!), so can't give you much more detail.
