I keep getting this error (5890 GC, 7673 injector):

HP3365
Failed to put vial down at front injector
Retry Cancel

Of course I click on "Retry" and the sequence continues on - but this has happened about 3 times this morning already.

There was a large storm here last night which affected some of the network (data system, email), so maybe a power surge/burp?

Any suggestions on what I should check to prevent this from happening?

Thanks,
John

Shut everything down, including GC and control box. Shut down computer. Start all. We just had a similar issue. I even had last week the 7673 drop a vial, had to look for it. It sure couldn't then put the vial down !!!

I went ahead and shut everything down yesterday (restarted computer, GC and control box) and started another batch of samples.

Came in this morning and I got the same error after the first sample ran(out of 30!), which apparently happened about 15 minutes after I left the building yesterday, d'oh!

:x

Hi John

Is this a real error or a false one ? in other words is the arm really failing to release the vial, or is it releasing the vial but its little silicon brain thinks that it isn't ?

In the first case I'd check for mechanical faults. Given the probable power spike the second one might need a software reload, or some new electronics

I actually never saw what happened when the error occurred.

I restarted everything again, and when I started up the instrument, the software dialog box read "Injector not ready."

The cable at the back of the controller was loose. Instrument is running fine now.

With past experiences, I'd rather this be the problem rather reloading the software (do you know where yours is? haha) or installing new circuit boards

John!
