one of the GCMS in my lab is running with MSD security chemstation 1.02(standalone PC). I am trying to validate the backup and restoration of data on it.
I tried to restore an archive on a second standalone PC which I got specifically for this purpose, and it mostly worked, except I couldn't reprocess data without saving new processing methods.
I contacted Agilent, and they are telling me that archives can only be restored properly on the very PC that created them. No good to me, because if the original PC dies, I will lose both the data and the ability to restore the archive, so I loose everything.
I asked Agilent what happens if I were to create a virtual PC (copy of the original one) and use that to restore the archive. They tried it for me, and it works, but it seem like great lengths to just restore an archive. Not least because I'd have to validate the software that generates the virtual image.
Does anyone have an alternative solution?
