The ion trap LC-MS system I got running earlier this year has had a few data system faults. Unfortunately the PC that it was running on (running Win2k) has died, suspected motherboard or RAM fault (reseating RAM did not help and the capacitors have a thick coating of rust). To check that the systems on the mass spec were all running okay I brought my own PC in and tried to connect to the http control panel directly, but the instrument won't respond to ping, let alone allow me to connect to the http server.

Does anyone know if the 1100 Trap SL needs to 'handshake' with the MSD Control software first before it allows an http session? It's a bit weird that it's not responding to ping (it has always been set to the default IP address of 192.168.254.10).

I have my network settings with no gateway, IP address on the PC set to 192.168.254.1, correct subnet mask, etc. The lights on the switch light up for both the PC and the trap.

Alternatively, if anyone knows how I might get the software running on a more recent machine, I'd be interested to know. Unfortunately I don't have a copy of the installation media (of course), just copies of old Chemstation. Maybe I need to talk to Bruker?
192.16.254.1
Is it typo?

Yes, but only in my original post... have fixed. The IP address is entered correctly on the PC.

Did you ever figure out the root of the problem? My old G2446 wont ping and the LAN hub doesnt even light up when its plugged in. I swapped the positions of the 1100 HPLC and MS on the hub and it works fine so I'm starting to think I have a LAN interface card gone bad, or a main board thats fried...... any help is appreciated
