lab relocation?

I'm facing a situation where I need to move my lab and I'm reaching out for some advice from those who have experienced something similar.

Has anyone here had to move their lab before? If so, I'd love to hear about your experiences. Did you use a regular moving company, or did you opt for a specialized lab mover like https://www.armstrongscientifictranspor ... elocation/ ? I'm trying to determine the best course of action for my own lab move.

Any recommendations for moving companies, especially those who have experience with labs, would be really appreciated.

On my very first day on the job in the 1970s, two new co-workers and myself unboxed and unwrapped lab equipment and glassware, all moved by Bekins movers. In those days pretty much all was done by wet chemistry, lab had one GC.

Much more recently, with so much GC, HPLC, and GCMS instruments and cGMP regulations for qualifications, they contracted with a scientific moving company to do the move, and had all the cGMP qualifications done.

I had to help coordinate a lab relocation last year when our research group changed facilities. We went with a mover that had general experience with commercial moves but not specifically labs, and honestly, it was a bit of a hassle. Some of the more sensitive instruments didn't get the attention they needed, and we ended up having to recalibrate a few systems afterwards. If you’ve got delicate equipment like HPLCs or other calibrated instruments, I’d probably lean toward someone who's handled labs before.
