Gabapentin Human Plasma using Derivatization

Right now we try to learn and develop fluorescence derivatization on Gabapentin (Chemical Structure see attachment). Right now we really confuse on making decision about what kind of derivatization reagent that we should buy coz very expensive each. We collect from many journal several reagent below:
- Dansyl Chloride
- O-phthaldialdehyde
- O-phthalaldehyde-3-mercaptopropionic acid
- O-phthaldehyde
-2,4,6-trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid
-1,2 napthoquinone-4-sulphonic acid sodium salt
-1-fluoro-2,4-dinitrobenzene

Did anybody know what kind of reagent above match with Gabapentin????

Why do you need derivatization?

For enhancing separation or detection?

At least separation should not be any problem using ZIC®-HILIC. Then you will need an ELSD, MS, or ECD for sensitive detection.

We used 2,4,6-trinitrobenze sulfonic acid for pre-column derivatizing of gabapentin, and baclofen was used as internal standard. The derivates are detected at 349 nm, using isocratic elution with mobile phase of acetonitril-water-acetic acid (500:500:1) and flow rate of 1.0 ml/min. It may help for you.
