Can we use FFAP for cholesterol. Which derivatization is recommended?

You must have a very SHORT column with a VERY THIN film. It is not the phase of choice. FFAP will STRONGLY retain cholesterol and you will have to use the MAX temperature for a very LONG time. I hope it will elute.

The best separation of cholesterol and impurities is on a capillary OV-17 (SPB-2250) and will take a good half an hour to elute for best separation. TMS derivative is suggested.

You may retire before cholesterol elutes from a FFAP column. Do not use a TMS derivative for this column.

GOOD LUCK.
