HED Fault

Recently we have been getting the HED Fault (0301) on our Agilent G1946D MS. Saw this post:

Was wondering if the idea of disassembling and cleaning the detector will solve this issue or not?

We have also been getting another error that seems to be related, the error logs as, "The power distribution board 28V supply is too low (1104)," which is making me think that the Bipolar HED Power Supply is failing and may need replacing, but I'd hate to go through the cost and trouble of replacing it, only to find that cleaning the detector would solve the issue with no replacement needed. Anyone else experienced this issue?

How old is your MS? I'm assuming that this is the original HED? I've had 2 fail in my lab and both occurred when the instrument was in the 7-8 year range. If it's getting up there in years, replacing the HED is probably the best way to go. Both times, replacing the HED fixed all of my problems.

It is a used instrument that the company purchased about 2 years ago. I'd guess it is at least 5 years old, probably older. We purchased it from GenTech at the time and they have been utterly worthless in helping to troubleshoot it. I think I'll go ahead and do the replacement of the HED, I have been able to find documentation in the logbook of this same error happening at least a dozen times in the past 3 weeks. Probably post back if it works when I get the change done, also getting ready to add an RID to the 1100 tower, so might as well utilize the downtime to fix the MSD, 2 birds with 1 stone, right?

we want to have the Unipolar HED Supply datasheet or pinout . We want to check it outside of the MASS before buying a new one. Do you have its manual?
