To Buffer B, or not. . .

At my place of employment, there is a raging debate going on as to the merits of Buffering MP B (organic). The 2 arguments go something like this:

KISS (keep it simple silly) theory: Don't complicate the situation unless need be. In other words, don't buffer the organic unless there is a need.

KITS (keep it the same) theory: Put some buffer in B, because there is some in A.

These are "vanilla versions" of the arguments, but I wanted to hear what others had to say w/o leading the argument in the right (my) way

Here, we (so far) only put buffers into the aqueous phase, the exception being if we use paired-ion. And we rarely use true buffers, prefer acidifiers like acetic acid. So we really keep it simple. It works for us.
