All right.

We're using MSD ChemStation (Agilent 6890/5975). I would like to be able to load a "sleep method" after running (a) a sample if so desired and (b) a sequence (we often run them overnight or on Friday and would like to conserve gas, etc.).

I have been trying things with the "Run post-cmd/macro" option in the Method Editor to no avail. I created a macro with "loadmethod "sleep.m"", and input in there again to no avail.

I'm sure there has to be a really simple way of doing this that I'm missing, so I thought I would run it by here since I couldn't find anything in the manual or online on how to accomplish this. All I want it to do is to load "sleep.m" as a method after it is done running a sample or an entire sequence.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Roxanne.

I use "sleep methods" regularly on my Agilent 1100 LC system.
Last line in sequence table is my sleep method, 0µL injection, no stop time.
That works for me.
Once all the samples are analyzed and the last sequence line is loaded, the machine is "sleeping".

I've never used the post-run cmd macro. But, I have noticed that the software (Version C.00.00) will reload the method that was being used prior to the start of the sequence.

Maybe you can load your sleep method, then quickly start the run...the conditions on the instrument shouldn't change too much it you're quick :?

Like rhaefe posted, or make a "dummy" method (easy for most of us dummies) and load that as last line in the sequence. We do this for HPLC, GC, and GCMS ChemStations. Sometimes we use on HPLC the "lampall" and "pumpall" or "standby" commands, depending on the situation, and we also make "slow-flow" Methods to keep a column equilibrated or to keep buffers flowing.
