Source for higher-order (C30+) alkanes

Discussions about GC and other "gas phase" separation techniques.

I'm looking for a source of higher-order alkanes starting with C30 where purity is not a top concern (95%+ is sufficient).

I know that Aldrich has such standards but I need quantities of about 50 g a week so buying from them is not really an option looking at their pricing.

Do you know a supplier who can deliver such amounts at reasonable costs?

Thanks!

Questions:

What do you consider reasonable?

How much total amount do you need of each alkane?

When do you need it?

best wishes,

Rod

From what you describe a Polywax sounds like a good standard. Perhaps you should try Wax who make them and see if they will sell you a suitable quantity ? Spike the wax with one of your existing Hydrocarbons and you can identify each peak.

Thanks for your replies!

@chromatographer1: I'm just evaluating a special method for which I need all C31-C44 n-alkanes starting with about 5 g of each.
If this method works out, I need about 500 g a year of each of these alkanes.
At my place raw materials (like the one I need) are about $20 US per kg for technical quality (which I need).
If Sigma Aldrich could supply me at these conditions I'd be very happy ;)

@CE Instruments: Wow, thanks for the suggestion! I'll contact these guys as soon as possible to get some samples. Maybe you just solved my problem (in case I can just distill what I need). Thank your very much!
