Heat resistant wool

I would like to buy some heat resistant wool to re-pack an FID after cleaning it. I would be grateful for a list of sources.
The instrument is a Perkin Elmer 8000 series 2 GC.

I assume you mean glass wool not the organic variety.

Glass wool is available from many vendors, including Sigma Aldrich, my parent company, through their Supelco division.

They have an Internet site, www.sial.com, and free 800 phone service available with offices in England.

I am sorry I did not specify. It is the organic variety. It looks identical to household cotton-wool. I tried household cotton-wool, but it started to turn brown and burn slightly.

Wool packed into an FID ??!!

I have never heard of anything being packed into an FID.

What makes you think that the original material is organic ? Is there any chance that you are talking about ceramic wool insulation (which is white like cotton wool) packed around the FID ?

The wool is packed around the FID to maintain the temperature difference between the FID and the oven.

Just call Perkin Elmer. THey must have a part number for the EXACT piece of insulation you need.
