Hi,

Our lab are using Empower 2 software. And we need help from anybody who has the hand-on experience of using this software to process the HPLC data to calculate the s/n value. We are not sure what's the right way to set the parameters to calculate the signal to noise ratio. We realized that different selection (base line, peak to peak, average peak to peak...) under the Suitability tab and the time window under the Noise and Drift tab end up with the so different s/n values. Help?

You need to make a custom field.

Signal to noise is peak height (in AU) / ave peak to peak noise in AU

The noise drift tab will calculate noise over the time you set in AU.

Peak height is AU times a multiplication factor,

So, your custom field should look something like this

(Peak Height / 100000)/Ave peak to peak noise

You will have to figure out the factor (I think its 100000 but I could be wrong)

Hope this helps.
