I need to try to develop an HPLC method for the separation & identification of saponins. I know they have a poor UV chromophore & that Evaporative light scattering detector may be most suitable. Initially I only want to run on an analytical scale. If anyone has any recommendations for column type, mobile phases & gradients to use I would be very grateful.
Thanks, KJM.

looking on google helpds a lot : for saponins and HPLC analysis gives you al lot of references

Phillipe, yes I'd been working my way through the Google responses too. Thanks for the link, this is definitely a good method to start with.

Do a keyword search on Ginseng. It will lead you to a list of emails in which I produced an analytical method for the measurement of Ginsenosides. These are all saponins.

I am currently working on ion-exchange resin cleanups of Ginseng extracts for better HPLC measurement.
