Retention time(tR) and baseline peak bandwidth (Wb)

Is there any mathematical correlation between the retention time of an analyte and the baseline peak bandwidth? I want to express the Wb of the peak as peak volume (Vc). I think that this can be calculated easily, but i would like some advice of how to estimate it.Is this equation correct ? ( Vc=4Vm(1+k)/N^1/2 where Vm is the column dead volume, k is the retention factor and N the number of theoritical plates).
