All,
The analytical group I work in is researching/comparing LCMS single quad systems from three different vendors. It would be of great help to us if some end-users would comment about their experiences with Agilent, Shimadzu and Thermo Electron instrumentation. As the system will be supporting both Process Chemistry and Analytical Development, we are interested in ease of hardware & software use, robustness, and company's service/repair record.

In regards to our use, we desire the system help us determine/assign peak purity and provide some guidance towards compound ID.

Thanks,
Robotjock

Robtjock,

Are you considering both LC and MS from the same vendor? If yes I would certainly go with Agilent. Actually I would go with the Agilent in general. We do not have all of the single quadrupoles brands you describe so I can not give you a comparative feedback.

About the service/repair record, this might vary from place to place so you'll better ask feedback from the companies around you...
I don't have any experience with any other single quad but we have several Agilent systems tagged to agilent single quads and I have to say they're pretty rugged systems, parts are readily available, and maintenance is within reason. Likewise support is always there for you.
