Around here, we get titles instead of raises. To give you a feel for how little I get paid, my current title is "Intergalactic Emperor".

Seriously, though, you can probably assume that salaries for chromatographers aren't hugely different from those for chemists overall. You can get the 2005 salary survey on-line from ACS:

I think the median salary was $83k.

The salaries appear to be better than the UK. The median, independant of age with a degree is $72,000. The lower quartile is $52k and the upper quartile is $96k. However, it took me 40 years to even start to reach the median

We all think that we are undervalued (whatever the job) but it is interesting to note that, in the UK, it took a report by an economist (The Stern Report) to wake the government up to the consequences of global warming, despite years of warnings from the scientific community.
