HPLC Methods for Recently Approved Pharmaceuticals

Hi all,

yesterday I "found" this book by George Lunn during googeling and think it could be interesting.
Does anybody know this book and can recommend it?

It is a good book if you need a quick reference guide or need to find a method quickly. It lists many many pharmaceutical products and gives a quick summary of chromatographic methods with references if you need more details. But it's bloody expensive and you can probably find many of the methods you are looking for using google (or this forum!).

I refer this book many a times, it is a good book and provides you lateral information about many pharmaceutical products. But i will suggest you to gather the required information by doing google search and optimise the LC conditions by making use of what you are having.

In fact, the title book isn't really expensive ( US$120-150 - versus the US$1000 for the initial 4 volume set by George Lunn ).

I used the first volume, it was quite convenient, but I wouldn't spend the money on the set, as using Pubmed and the free patent search databases can usually give sufficient information for most compounds.

If you are analysing a diverse range of pharmaceuticals, the book will give you some quick leads, but you need to be aware that many published methods are intended for a specific maxtrix. You still need books that will help you devlop methods.

If I had to choose, I'd spend the money on the latest Merck Index, and only buy the book if the listed pharmaeuticals will match likely samples.

I decided to order the book (it is not so expensive (129 €)) and hope that I will find some suggestions while develoing new methods in the future.

Dear all:

I also have the book by Lunn (for newer compounds up to year 2003). I found that it is not quite helpful compared to the book "Stability-Indicating HPLC Methods for Drug Analysis" by Xu and Trissel. To be honest, we have not adapted successfully any method from Xu's book to our collection of standard protocols, but I have referred to it often.
Perhaps the whole set of 4 volumes by Lunn will work better, for a higher investment!
