hi,
i want to know about force degradation of valproate sodium. Is it very stable compound. I have tried 1N HCL, 1 N NaOH, and 3% H2O2 for 12 hrs, but there were no additional peaks found and no reduction in area of drug peak, as well. How can I conduct force degradation of the same.

I guess the lack of response is a good indicator, or that this subject fit better "Around the watercooler".

Try to heat with phosphorpentoxide (P2O5)!

I would try UV light in the presence of oxygen, or an oxidizing acid aqueous solution. But I don't think it will degrade quickly. Usually these take quite a while to oxidize especially the salts if I remember correctly.

from the structure we know valproate is as stable as rock. Probably this is a case that we try hard but fail to get 10% degradation then report what ever the result.
It does not make sense to me to burn this stuff. Though the previous two suggestions should work if want to burn it.
