Hi all,
Do you use a combi-pal? If so what are your general comments?
I would like to use headspace,SPME and liquid injections in the same unit.
How easy is it to change the injector assemblies over for each method?
Thanks in advance
WK
Hi WK

I have used a clone of the Combi-Pal; the Gerstel MPS2, for headsapce. The temperature control of the samples is not very good, so peak areas vary by at least 4 - 5 % minimum.

There was an earlier thread on this subject.

Changinging from liquid to headspace syringe modules was very straightforward.

We have two of these units. Both are very reliable when set up correctly.

The only trouble we've had is with the needle flush tubing getting pulled out of it's track and getting pinched by the motor for the tower. This was supposed to be addressed in newer samplers, but the newest one we have (2 years old) just had to have the line replaced (took me 15 minutes). This is something you can do yourself easily, and shouldn't have to be done more than once a year.

re: Combi-pal - if you have Empower, you will not have instrument control for it.
Thanks,

If I remeber correctly ( I may not be :x ), a service rep from LEAP technologies (Mike Sloan) said that they have an Empower driver for the CTC. We are using Empower, but since our GCs are 5890s without Empower control cards, there was really no reason to go ahead and get the CTCs running with Empower.
I have 3 of these (liquid/headpace versions) and have found them reliable and easy to change from one configuration to another.

We have two CTC controlled by Empower.... :)

When did you get Empower to control them?
Is there an additional license fee involved?
Thanks,
DR

Thanks for your replies! I have seen that Agilent have agreed an arrangement to sell the CTC autosamplers.
