So I got my MPS-2 hooked up to my 6890 and tried doing an injection and it was doing crazy stuff with the syringe not discharging all the way taking the plunger clear out making crunching noises and it was tentatively diagnosed as a bad plunger motor based on the risistance on the plunger holder when off.

Is that user serviceable. Gerstel want $900 for replacement it looks like the part is about $300. I could not find any manual that describes how to do it.
Whenever a motor or an electronic component breaks I Google any serial numbers it has, and often it comes up as a standard part that you can buy over the internet for about tenth of what the instrument manufacturers wants to charge you for it.

I was more interested in terms of is it something I could replace myself.

I had that issue with my Tekmar 7000. In its case the gear motors are made by a company that won't sell nor will any distributing company sell the gear motors piecemeal. You have to go to the manufacturer and buy an entire assembly.
