I am having a problem with a Perkin Elmer series 200 micro pump I bought a few months ago on EBay. I actually bought two from different vendors. When it arrived I checked to see that it pumped and held a pressure, which it did and then I put it aside until needed.
Two days ago I tried to use it for the first time.
It still pumps well, and holds a pressure. It does not have any leaks.
But the piston pump cycle, which is very easy to see, is about 1/2 that of the other P.E. micro pump I bought when both pumps are set to the same flow rate. For example, when set to 0.5 mL/min the problem pump piston cycle is about 9-10 seconds while the good pump will cycle in about 4 seconds.
As a result, the flow rate is much lower than what it is set for.
Let us call the problem pump, pump A, and the other one pump B.
Both models have model number N2910500, which is reserved for the micro-pump.
The Pump A power up screen indicates it is a Series 200 Analytical Pump (v 2.43 software)
The Pump B power up screen indicates it is a Series 200 Micro Pump, (V 2.03 software)
Pump A will happily pump at 7 mL a minute if asked to do so though the actual flow rate will be far less.
Pump B will not accept 7 mL/ min as a flow rate and will display a 3 mL /min flow if 7 is entered. 3 mL/min is the max flow rate for a micro pump.
When pressing Diag/Read from part number in a sub menu:
Pump A shows N291 8022
Pump B shows N291 8021
One possibility: I am beginning to suspect somebody swapped parts in Pump A to get it working prior to selling it. Would anyone be able to verify that N291 8022 and N291 8021 are for different model pumps or are both valid for the micro pump?
Another possibility: Pump A is in a very confused state and needs to be reset to factory default. Is there a way to do this on a P.E. Series 200 pump?
BTW, I HAVE been into the menu to try to calibrate the flow rate, but the values I enter are likely too low for the pump and are ignored. Higher values are accepted (but are incorrect to fix the problem)
