Hello,

I'm setting up for Formaldehyde in water by GC/ECD. I know background contamination is a problem in this analysis. Does anyone know the best water to use for Blanks and Standards (purchased, RO?) Any other hints would be appreciated.
Thanks :bounce:

We used to have to use Poland Springs water for sub ppb range chloroform testing. None of the in House DI water or bottled reagent waters even came close to the purity of spring water. At least from a headspace point of view.

"The most successful techniques for generating aldehyde free water are (1) exposure to UV light, or (2) distillation from permanganate."
